The SP was the higher-spec version of the new 2017 Fireblade, adding semi-active Öhlins Smart-EC suspension, Brembo monobloc front calipers, a titanium fuel tank, a lithium-ion battery and a quickshifter to the standard bike's new chassis and electronics. With around 15 kg cut and 10 hp added over its predecessor, it was aimed squarely at riders who spend time on circuits.
